Vintage Holiday Caravans in Somerset

DecoDays Vintage Caravan Holidays
I recently found this adorable caravan available for holiday hire in Somerset.

She is an Angela Caravan, built in the 1930s and is probably now the only one left in existence.  This caravan is aluminium bodied, double lined with fabulous lattice windows.  She was originally owned by one person from new to the 1970s when the current owners purchased her.  She is well travelled, but is now looking for a comfortable retirement where people can enjoy her in a more static state, or at least travel her on the back of a trailer to shows.

Internally she is quite remarkable with her original gas cooker and oven intact, plate warmer, and enamel sink with a small pine dresser above.  There are three generous cupboards and a wardrobe in metal with original bakelite handles. The wardrobe doors are designed to break the room up and block off the sleeping area.  The gas mantles are still in place, although are no longer connected for safety reasons.

This caravan has a fabulous cottage feel created by the interior and beautiful latticed windows as you can see below.

She is also not on her own. There are more caravans available for breaks:

  • A 1932 Bertram Hutchins, Tudor style, polished oak and sleeps two in either a double bed or singles.
  • A 1955 Willoughby Vogue – the first all fibreglass, streamlined caravan.  Very futuristic in design.
  • The Pods – New 2 berth micro-caravans, ideal for hiring and travelling.  Easily towed by a small car.
